Neville Kempton OAM is a highly respected coach at Swan River Rowing Club, whose lifelong dedication to rowing has profoundly shaped the Club and wider rowing community. Awarded an Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his outstanding service to the sport, Neville’s expertise and mentorship have elevated athlete performance and fostered a culture of excellence. Beyond coaching, he plays a vital role in supporting the maintenance and care of the Club’s fleet, ensuring rowers have top-quality equipment. Neville’s commitment extends well beyond the water, inspiring generations of rowers and strengthening the foundation of Swan River Rowing Club for years to come.
Lachlan van de Ven serves as both Coach and Captain of Boats at Swan River Rowing Club, combining leadership on and off the water. His expertise and strategic guidance have been pivotal in refining technique and boosting competitive results across all levels. As Captain of Boats, Lachlan ensures smooth crew coordination and fosters a strong team spirit, promoting discipline and camaraderie among members. Beyond training, he actively engages with the community to grow the sport’s profile and accessibility. Lachlan’s passion and dedication continue to inspire athletes, driving the Club’s success and strengthening its vibrant, inclusive culture.

Mike Hinsley

Mike Hinsely is a dedicated coach at Swan River Rowing Club, specialising in developing pathway athletes and leading the Senior Women’s squad to new heights. His focused training programs have helped many athletes transition successfully from junior to elite levels, with several achieving standout performances at regional and national regattas. Beyond coaching, Mike contributes his financial expertise as a valued member of the SRRC Board, ensuring the Club’s strong and sustainable future. David Butt

David Butt is a new coach at Swan River Rowing Club, dedicated to introducing new rowers through the Learn to Row program and supporting athletes with disabilities. His inclusive approach ensures everyone, regardless of experience or ability, feels welcome and empowered on the water. David also plays a key role in helping athletes transition from the Corporate Rowing Program into full Club membership, fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.
