Swan River Rowing Club Coaches

Swan River Rowing Club takes pride in the high standard of our coaching team. Our coaches are passionate about youth development and excellent rowing at all levels.

Mark Beer (Head Coach)

Mark is our full time professional Head Coach. Mark is a Level 3 NCAS (National Coach Accreditation Scheme) rowing coach with over 16 years coaching experience in Australia and the UK. He has extensive coaching experience of collegiate athletes at an elite varsity level and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Theory and Practice of Coaching, from University of Canberra, Australia.

Mike Hinsley

Mike coaches many under 19 and 23 members at the club. He has been a State coach for the last 5 years.  Mike is club  president and for 7 years he was the club’s captain.

Neville Kempton

Neville represented Australia as a lightweight in 1983 and has previously coached school First VIIIs.  Neville has been involved in our juniors programme for a number of years and has coached many athletes to national an international representation and success. In 2018, Nev coached our A-grade Pennant Men’s VIII to their 18th straight win.

Jack Fischer

Jack’s coaching career spans decades and includes multiple WA schoolboy First VIII wins, State Championship wins and National Championship victories. Currently Jack is taking a coaching sabbatical after coaching the TID squad in 2018.

Lachlan Chapman

Lachlan is one of our VPs and is also a previous club captain. He represented Australia as a lightweight in 2013. He is involved with the coaching programmes at Trinity and Penrhos colleges. He currently coaches our U17 and U19 girls.

Annie Demosthenos and Louise Pallant

Annie coaches our learning-to-train squad affectionately known as “Quokkas” together with Louise Pallant. Annie is currently on maternity leave.

Roger Gaskin and Bruce Strickland

Roger and Bruce coach our learn-to-row programme. Their patience is legendary!


The Swan River Rowing Club

The Swan River Rowing Club (SRRC) is located next to the Canning Bridge in Applecross, just south of the Perth CBD in Western Australia.
