Swan River Rowing Club Coaches
Swan River Rowing Club takes pride in the high standard of our coaching team. Our coaches are passionate about youth development and excellent rowing at all levels.
Antonio Maurogiovanni (Head Coach)
Antonio is our full time professional Head Coach. He represented Italy in the Seoul and Barcelona Olympics and has gone on to coach at the highest level including the Italian Men’s Quad to a Gold medal at the Sydney Olympics (2000), coaching Australian teams at subsequent Olympics and internationally for the Dutch National team. He was at WAIS as the Head coach and performance manager for 10 years.
Mike coaches many of under 19 and 23 members at the club. He has been a State coach for the last 5 years. Mike is currently one of the club’s vice presidents and for 7 years he was the club’s captain.
Neville was represented Australia as a lightweight in 1983 and has previously coached school First VIIIs. Neville has been involved in our juniors programme for a number of years and has coached many athletes to national an international representation and success.
Jack is one of our club’s Vice Presidents. Jack’s coaching career spans decades and includes multiple WA schoolboy First VIII wins, State Championship wins and National Championship victories. Currently Jack is coaching our Senior women and Elite pathway girls squads.
Lachlan is also our club captain and represented Australia as a lightweight in 2013. He is involved with the coaching programmes at Trinity and Penrhos colleges. He currently coaches our U17 and U19 girls.
Greg comes to Swannies as a past president of the North Esk Rowing Club in Tasmania, having coached multiple State championship winning crews at senior and school levels.
Having coached crews since the early 1970s Greg has been fortunate enough to be mentored by some of the sport’s best. Most recently he has coached winning crews at Trinity College
and St Hilda’s as well as having had a considerable involvement coaching at Hale School, ANA and Champion Lakes Boat Club helping them develop their rowing programs.
Greg is also a former coach of WA State Masters crews and is particularly passionate about the benefits of rowing in preparing young people for life’s journey.
