The Swan River Rowing Club is based in Perth Western Australia. The club has a long history having started in 1885 and is the second oldest club in Western Australia.
Our clubhouse is located next to the Canning Bridge in Applecross, just south of the Perth CBD. There are currently over 200 active and social members of the club.
The objectives of the club are to promote and encourage the sport of rowing and to provide all members with the best possible club experience irrespective of age, gender and competence. The Swan River Rowing Club is dedicated to providing the best rowing facilities and equipment in W.A. We actively encourage the sport of rowing through a number of school recruitment programs.
Over the years we have produced many international level athletes and coaches including seven who represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The clubhouse is a relatively modern building (20 years old) with 3 boat bays, showers and change rooms downstairs and club social and meeting facilities upstairs. The building is shared with Penrhos Girls College (SRRC 2/3, Penrhos1/3). Upstairs there is a large hall, deck overlooking the river, kitchen and bar facilities, toilets, a committee/social room and several storage rooms.
The SRRC fleet is housed in the two SRRC boat bays. Currently it consists of 3 eights, 9 fours, 10 pairs, 15 sculls, 4 coaching dinghies, and around 100 oars. All craft are from top manufacturers (generally Empachers or Sykes) and kept in good-excellent condition. At Swans we believe good equipment matches our desire to strive for the best – and it makes for good investments. We also house about 20 private boats, mostly single sculls.
The upstairs facilities are for club social events and available for hire for functions and corporate events. For further details, please see our Hall Hire page.
Established in a nearby Melville Council building, this facility contains 8 new ergometers with heart rate monitors, spin bikes and a variety of weights and other gym equipment.
