Corporate Program Details
Who can Participate?
Everyone without a major health issue, injury or disability and average level of fitness. Mixed crews are welcome.
Teams
We prefer entries of 9 people from each company to form crews of 8 sweep oar rowers plus a coxswain (we can provide a cox if necessary). A crew from a company or department, project or function in a company is ideal and more than one team per company is welcome. Absentees: We can provide a few fill-ins to replace crew members who have to travel, are on leave or sick but ideally there will be another company person (who has rowed before?) already identified as a replacement.
Equipment and Coaching
We will provide all rowing boats, oars, coaching boats, fuel etc . One primary coach will be provided per crew throughout the program. Coaches are selected for their ability and experience with corporate programs.
Training Sessions
The number of training sessions is up to the crews and their coach to finalise, but expect 3 sessions/week (2 during weekdays and one on the weekend). Sessions will be cancelled or run onshore if weather is too bad.
Duration: Around 1.5 hrs in total, including warmup/stretching, approx 1 hr on water, ending with boat washing and de-brief.
Times: Normal start on weekdays is 5.30 am, finishing at 7.00am, then shower + coffee, leave for work by 7.45am. Weekends training is a bit later, probably starting 6.30 am.

Safety
The Club has comprehensive policies and rules which will be provided. Our coaches are all experienced, possess current skippers ticket, have a basic knowledge of first aid and can swim. Crew members will need to have basic water survival skills. Coaching boats have safety equipment on board. All rowing boats will utilise lights if out in the dark/poor light and are equipped with quick-release shoes. The coach will have mobile phone at all times. Crews will not go out in very rough conditions. (Conditions on the Canning River at this time of year though are typically quite good.)
Regatta
Culminating the month long training program is the Corporate Regatta, where all teams entered into the competition compete against each other. The Regatta will be held on Saturday 29 October, 9am – 12 noon, followed by a BBQ and awards. It will be run by club members who are International qualified umpires. All crews will get 3 races over 500m.
The overall winner will receive the “Melville City Cup’. If crews have different numbers of men and women, a handicap system may be used. In addition to the cup presentation there will be some fun awards and short speeches from the crews describing their highlights and experience of the program.
Program Kick-Off Cocktails Event
Sunday 2 October 3.30 pm: Drinks and finger food provided. All coaches, regatta organisers etc will be present. Rules and expectations will be given.
